Christian Slaterbeing part of Disney+’sWillow is easily one of the most exciting things about the serial publication . Slater ’s life history has spanneddecades and include some of our most beloved films and shows . He ’s the variety of actor who , if they ’re in a project , instantly make you more excited about it . However , old to this week — and with overhalf the time of year finished — the actor had yet to make his debut .
That changed with “ Prisoners of Skellin,”which not only featured Slater , but featured him in a primal role that linked the tale of the original Willow picture with this new show . A few weeks back , io9 speak with Willow showrunner Jon Kasdan who told us why Slater was chuck , and what the theatrical role means to the serial publication .
In the episode , Slater plays Allagash , a champion of Val Kilmer ’s movie fibre Madmartigan , who joined him on a daring adventure to stop up the fabled armor called the Kymerian Cuirass . The pair , along with Madmartigan ’s steward Boorman ( Amar Chadha - Patel ) , explore for the Cuirass for three years , conduct them to Wiggleheim ’s tomb in the round mountain of Skellin . Madmartigan entered the tomb , never to return , and Allagash say the trolls he was Madmartigan so that his friend could continue the quest without being chased .

sound like a fun motion picture , right ? Well , that ’s what Kasdan had in mind when vomit the pivotal part .
“ The melodic theme immediately , once we see where we were blend with this , [ is ] there was a pic you never got to see,”Kasdan tell io9 . “ It came out in 1992 and it was The Adventures of Madmartigan and it had Madmartigan chair a team of adventurer on a daring seeking . And we call up , ‘ Who would be in that picture show ? ’ And Christian was the first name that popped into our promontory . ”
It was that pitch that Kasdan used to entice Slater in . “ The first thing I told Christian when I was finally able to get him on the sound was just what I just narrate you , ” Kasdan enounce . “ And he said , ‘ Absolutely , mankind , I would have been in that movie in a heartbeat . ’ ”

“ What ’s amazing about Christian is he has a real genuine making love of genre , ” Kasdan continues . “ He loves this variety of adventure history . He loves Star Wars , he loves swashbucklers and scoundrel , and he ’s been wait to play one . So it was sort of serendipitous when this role come forth and we want someone who could fill in some of the gap in what happened to Madmartigan and what that pursuance would be . But the first and most obvious affair about it was that that person would not be someone we could swear . He would have to be a substantial confidence trick man and a treble monger and out for himself in every way . And that was the 2d affair I explained to Christian . And he was even more in because he does that course . ”
Slater is excellent in the episode , portraying this duplicitous , boisterous but ultimately selfless human race who , we believe , may give himself for the other submarine . We ’ll have to wait and see if he subsist or if that ’s it but , either direction , woodlouse on Willow is a huge high spot of the season .
