Despite the creators of Battlestar Galactica doing their best to suggest that Gaius Baltar may be the colonial variant of the son of God – especially with his turn - the - other - cheek - so - they - can - punch - that - one - too act from last Friday ’s installment – fans at the Battlestar Galactica Blog feel the need to point out that , although he may search like Jesus , so they say , Mr. Jesus is very far away . In fact , the religious number he more intimately resembles may be a admirer from the Beehive State .
Some fans – such as Major Dojo – are coming up with somewhat convincing rationales behind why Baltar has Christ - comparable tendencies :

There has been a lot of uninformed comment on the net liken Gaius Baltar to Jesus Christ . The people produce this comparison obviously have no clue . Gaius does not represent Jesus , he represents Joseph Smith .
For those who do n’t know who Joseph Smith is , he’sthe manwho gave the world Big Love , the Osmonds andmuch , much moreby creating Mormonism . The BSGB conk on to excuse why their theory makes more sense :
Jesus was the Son of God . Gaius , like Joseph Smith , is just a regular person and not divine himself . Joseph Smith was visited by the Angel Falls Moroni on legion occasions ( or so he arrogate ) . Gaius is visited regularly by some supernatural entity that disclose itself as a Cylon example Number Six . Or perchance Gaius is just insane , but the Number Six in Gaius ’ headland is supposed to play the angel Moroni who visited Joseph Smith . Just as Joseph Smith received spiritual pedagogy from Moroni , Gaius receives religious educational activity from Number Six .
Joseph Smith and Gaius were both political leader . Joseph Smith was the city manager of the town of Nauvoo , and he announced his campaigning for chairman of the United States in 1844 . Gaius Baltar hightail it for Chief Executive of the colonies ( and won too ) . See the similarities ?
Unlike Jesus , who was convict at a trial run and sentence to dying , both Joseph Smith and Baltar carry off to bilk any serious jailhouse time at their trials . Joseph Smith was killed by a mob , and not by the law . It seems to me that the author of BSG are also correct up Gaius Baltar to be kill by a mob . Every time he ’s out in public , the mob need to kill him .
Of course , the biggest law of similarity between the oracle Joseph Smith and Gaius Baltar is the polygamy ! Joseph Smith had two dozen or more wife . Gaius has a harem of female follower . Jesus never had any married woman at all .
I have to admit , I ’m kind of sold , even if I ’m not convinced that a muckle of this may be accidental coincidences that the writers should immediately judge and incorporate into their stay episodes if possible . But never mind Smith ’s two XII married woman , what I really want to live is , how many of them exhibited the sado - masochistic overtones of Tory and Six from last Friday , and are there S&M disposition in Mormonism that I previously live about ?
