listen back through this album , it ’s comfortable to understand why Weezer boomed when they did . The songs are so damned tricky and energetic , you ca n’t help but zephyr - guitar along . There ’s actual earnestness here that must ’ve been an absolute breath of fresh strain compare to the dirt everyone else was assay to make at the sentence .
That earnestness shows itself in another , perhaps more long-suffering way : this dance orchestra was n’t afraid to be geeky . credit to Buddy Holly , dungeon and Dragons , metal band — it takes a lot of candor to try out and become a rock wiz on that sort of foundation .
Obviously , it worked . These songs may be 20 years old , but they still feel as familiar as ever . Geeking out is almost stylish now — so go before , zigzag the volume and belt along with Rivers .
