Kate MiddletonandPrince Williamare not against some lighthearted ribbing — especially on each other!

During Thursday’svisit to DAY1 in Scotland— a charity that provides mentoring, training, personal development and employability services to vulnerable young people — the Prince and Princess of Wales, both 41, were introduced to a game involving a ping pong ball and a cup.

“You’ve done that before,” Princess Kate quipped with a smile.

Then it was Kate’s turn, which started with tracing several circles around the upside-down cup with her finger. She then turned the cup over and attempted to bounce the ball in.

After a couple of misses, William joked, “We’ll be here all day!”

When the ball finally landed in the cup, Kate playfully told the kids, “Finally.”

The banter is nothing new for the royal couple. At adinner in 2016, Kate told chefs that “William has to put up with my cooking most of the time,” to which he retorted: “It’s the reason I’m so skinny.”

Princess Kate dishes out the jokes at her husband’s expense as well. In 2022,Prince William took up a shovel to plant a tree— and despite his experience in the act (it’s a favorite way to mark a royal family member’s visit!), his wife quipped: “William, you’ve missed a bit.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales are also known to get competitive during royal outings, whether they’re facing off in acocktail-making contestor going head-to-head in aspin bike race.

“I’m not going to say you’re uber competitive,” Mike said before pausing to give a nod indicating that she really was.

The princess replied coyly, “I’m not competitive at all.”

“I’veseen her play beer pong!” Mike said.

When it comes to table tennis, Princess Kate said that she and Prince William have never “actually managed to finish a game.”

“It becomes a mental challenge between the two of us,” she said.

Prince William added that it comes down to “who can out-mental each other."

Despite their teasing, Prince William and Princess Kate also showed how they support each other during their day in Scotland. When achild asked Kate who she was, she replied, “Who am I? I’m married to William.”

The Princess of Wales' answer highlighted her supportive role to her husband, who is the current heir to the throne and set to be king one day.

“She’s never trying to outshine him in any way,” royal biographer Penny Junorpreviously told PEOPLEabout the pair’s dynamic. “I think that Kate is a bit likePrince Philipsupporting theQueen. She doesn’t outshine William but still has a lot to say herself.”

A source added that Kate “is the sort of woman who will take on whatever she needs to. If she needs to step up to the plate, she does it — and she always has. She and William are a formidable team.”
