Mindy Kalingloves writing about romance, but she’s not always forthcoming about its role in her own life.
The writer and actress, 45, was asked about her dating life during a March 3 appearance onDax Shepard’s podcast,Armchair Expert, and offered a rare insight into the role that romance — or a lack thereof — plays in her life right now.
“I don’t remember the last time I had a crush,” Kaling admitted. “I don’t have lust feelings.”
As she reflected, she admitted that it could be “connected to” the fact that she recently welcomed a daughter, Anne,who just turned 1— andwhose birth she kept quiet for more than four months.

Kaling frequently faces questions about her dating life as it relates toher longtime friend B.J. Novak, as the pair dated on and off while working onThe Office.
Though they steadfastly shut down speculation about returning to their romantic relationship, their tight friendship continues to fuel curiosity.
“He is a wonderful friend and he is the godparent of both my kids and he loves children and they’re so attached to him,” Kaling said onThe Drew Barrymore Showin 2022. “He’s really part of our family, but we’ve known each other for a long, long time and I think anyone who’s been friends with someone for 18, 19 years and at one point dated and now doesn’t, they maybe understand this.You have exes that you wouldn’t necessarily marry now.”

Novak’s attendance at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony last monthdid little to ease speculation once again.
He also gave a speech on Kaling’s behalf, calling her a “brilliant and wildly successful showrunner,an incredible mother of three, a deep and caring daughter and friend and mentor to so many.”

“You’d be on the walk of talent if they had one,” Novak, 45, continued. “You’d be on the walk of friendship. You’d be on the walk of compassionate parenthood, but let’s face it all of these would be terrible field trips, so here you are instead, very deservedly, a person who means so much to so many on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”
