New York City MayorEric Adamsis being accused of sexual assault according to a legal summons filed Wednesday in New York County Supreme Court.
In addition to sexual assault, the filing claims the plaintiff suffered battery and employment discrimination, retaliation, hostile work environment and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

According to theAssociated Press, Adams denied sexually assaulting anyone and said he did not remember meeting the woman while speaking to reporters.
“It absolutely did not happen. I don’t recall ever meeting this person and I would never harm anyone in that magnitude. It did not happen,” Adams said while speaking to reporters in avideo posted to X(formerly known as Twitter), per the outlet. “It did not happen, and that is not who I am and that is not who I’ve ever been in my professional life and, you know, it’s just something that never took place.”

A City Hall spokesperson toldCNN, “The mayor does not know who this person is. If they ever met, he doesn’t recall it. But he would never do anything to physically harm another person and vigorously denies any such claim.”
PEOPLE has reached out to the woman’s attorney for comment but did not immediately hear back.
The summons was filed in Manhattan under theNew York Adult Survivors Act, which expires Friday. This law allowed adult sexual assault survivors to file a lawsuit during a one-year window even if limitations has expired.
The filing reportedly did not provide further details about the alleged assault as it is not a formal complaint.
Adams has been under scrutiny in recent weeks afterfederal authorities began investigatingwhether his 2021 mayoral campaign conspired with the Turkish government to receive illegal campaign donations, according to theTimes.
News of the investigation came shortly after federal agents searched the Brooklyn, New York, home of the Democrat’s former campaign fundraiser, Brianna Suggs, on Nov. 2, per theAssociated Press.
TheTimesobtained a copy of the search warrant, reporting that investigators were also seeking more information about the possible involvement of a Brooklyn construction company with ties to Turkey and a Washington, D.C. university with ties to both Turkey and Adams.
The newspaper reported that investigators seek to determine if Adams' campaign “kicked back benefits” to the construction company’s employees and officials from Turkey, according to the warrant.
